CounterPoint
- Counterpoint Involves writing a new melody against an existing one.
- Some useful tips for First Species Counterpoint are:
- Use only consonances
- Use M6-M8
- Prefer stepwise and contrary motion
- Melody should have a good shape
- Meodic intervals are connected by what we call steps, skips and leaps. A step is a half or whole step a skip is # movements and A leap is 4 or more movements.
- Voice leading is the movement of one note the next to create a harmony or melodic line.
