  • 4th species counterpoint is all about suspension.
  • Suspension is a rhythmic displacement created when a consonant pitch extends over to the first note in the next bar. 
  • Suspensions can be named by the numbers of the dissonant intervals and their resolution. 
  • 5th species counterpoint contains all types of counterpoint.
