Lesson 8 Part 2

  • Playing guitar for studio, rock or jazz bands you'll find another musicians use to label 7th chords called lead sheets. eg. am7/G means the root note is A minor and the bass note is G.
  • Figured bass 7 chords are as follows 7 for root position, 6/5 for 1st inversion, 4/3 for second inversion and 4/2 for 3rs inversion.
  • 3rd inversion 7th chords is a very specially chord as they are written with the 7th as the bass note.
  • An easy way to identify the inversion of 7th chords is to look for the 2nd where the 2nd is the upper note is the root note and its easier to work from there to find the quality of the 7th chord.
This how 7th chords are shown with a lead sheet for guitar.
